Spelling Bee of Canada recognizes and acknowledges that the land our offices are based on is the traditional territory of many nations, including the Mississaugas of the Credit, the Anishinaabeg, the Chippewa, the Haudenosaunee, and the Wendat peoples, and is still home to many diverse First Nations, Inuit, and Métis peoples. We also want to acknowledge that Toronto and the Greater Toronto Area, including York Region, is covered by Treaty 13 with the Mississaugas of the Credit.
Our programming and events take place across the land traditionally known as Turtle Island, which has been stewarded by dozens of Indigenous, Métis and Inuit groups over centuries. We honour the Indigenous peoples, ancestors, and future generations of this land that we share with reverence and humility.
